All pianos require regular scheduled tuning, occasional adjustments and overhauls. Your piano will be tuned by a certified piano technician from Piedmont Piano Services who is a graduate of the New England Conservatory Technology Program and an active member of the Piano Technicians Guild with over 20 years’ experience.
A piano has thousands of parts, and many of these must be adjusted within a thousandth of an inch for the instrument to function optimally. Have you ever played a piano where the notes didn’t repeat well, or felt mushy? What about notes that kept a ‘ghost’ ringing after you let go? Uneven keys, ‘jiggling’ keys, pedals that don’t feel right. Felt parts harden with age and wear with use; glue joints dry out, wood cracks, metal becomes weak or brittle, etc. Often we can fix these issues without extravagant cost. Be sure to mention any concerns to the technician.
